The maturation of online video is certainly not over. The 2007-2008 Writers Guild of America strike that rocked the world of television was about the role the union should play in protecting the original online content of its members.

This recent impromptu interview with Tamara Krinsky, who is the WGA’s New Media Project Manager, illustrates where the WGA currently is and what challenges they and their members face in the “wild west” that is the online video space.

The WGA claims they have a working model and online media is integrated in their contracts but these will all be under review when negations start again in 2011.

One collaboration we are especially proud of us is our collaboration with Now Magazine’s video journalist Graeme Phillips. We have done many many projects with him over the past couple years but his recent work with Now Tube is a one man show. A lot of work goes into a video production. From preparation, to shooting, monitoring audio, making notes, editing, titles etc etc – this is a process that normally involves at least a few people. However, Graemes recent coverage of TIFF and other events he has done entirely on his own. On the side of teaching video full time he has been running around at the film festival rubbing shoulders with the best and brightest in film and pumping out awesome stories on video. We helped with the titles, but other than that he has covered all grounds in his limited free time and pulled out a whole assortment of cool pieces. The following 2 videos are my personal favorites. The first is a “man on the street” style video asking both movie-lovers as well as big time directors if TIFF is still “the peoples festival” the other video is a really cool moment Graeme captured a little while back at the Hillside Music Festival in Guelph.

Enjoy!

You ever been to a website where a little person pops up to greet you and help you navigate your way around the pages? This is clearly becoming a very popular way to deliver information quickly and effectively. We get asked about making these pop up video spokespeople all the time so thought we would share a sample of one we have done recently with our client Alan Smithson and his website memoryplus.com.

To stick with the trend of posting about people we’re fortunate enough to work with – this weeks blog post is about JUZD lead designer and founder Jing Liu. We first met Jing at a birthday celebration for Fergie from Black Eyed Peas in Miami and stayed in touch with him ever since. He founded his clothing label JUZD on the premise that whenever you put on one of these all bamboo designer shirts you’ll feel JUZD! (juiced) What’s amazing about Jing is that he truly believes that his shirts will have this effect on people – that becoming an alpha-male is as simple as buying one of his shirts from Holt Renfrew, putting it on and hitting the nightclubs. To some people this may sound completely crazy but not a word of a lie – if you put on one of these shirts you do feel JUZD. It’s amazing! Jing gave Justin and I our own JUZD shirts as a very kind gift and whenever we put them on it completely changes the way we look and feel. It may be a placebo effect happening because deep down inside we want the quick fix – but regardless… it works!

EUREKA!

I can go on and on about how amazing the material is but you can read about it yourself here:

http://www.juzd.com/benefitsofbamboo.php

The video attached is a little piece Justin put together for JUZD. A few JUZD models got all JUZD up and filmed themselves acting like ninjas at Circa and Justin made this cool video with their footage. It’s a good testament to the style and vibe of JUZD Bamboo.

Hi there,

Thanks for stopping by. If you’re an avid blogger you may be wondering what
this blog has to offer – or in other words what you can learn from us. Well,
I don’t really know. We once tried blogging about effective business
strategies with a focus on young entrepreneurs but we folded that idea
pretty quickly. What we learned from that experience though was that
blogging was easily searchable and by blogging, random people found their
way into our website.

That’s why were blogging again!

We like random people here! We’re a business! And we’re proud to do
business!

So if you randomly popped in, once again WELCOME! We are happy to have you
drop in because we feel strongly about what we do and being able to work
with new people is one of the reasons we got into business in the first
place. So here is the declaration! THIS is what our new blog will be about:

WELCOME to The Biz Media’s blog about THE BIZ MEDIA! For all you people who
have no idea who we are, this is where we will post the video’s we have
made, client testimonials about us, fun things we are up to, and sometimes
just things that we have found online that we love and feel you will love
too. You found your way to us and right here is where you can learn a whole
ton about who we are, what we like and what we do.

Please feel free to leave a comment – we would love to hear from you!

Cheers,

Dan Demsky
